The new lion cubs are not only important to the zoo, they are a treasure to African lion populations which are decreasing, due to trophy hunting, habitat loss, traditional medicine and disease. There is only about 25,000 African lions left in the wild.

Four lion cubs were born sometime last Sunday night. It’s too early to know what sex they are, but their mother Husani, is keeping a watchful eye, ensuring they grow up strong and healthy.
